Liliya Podkopayeva builds a sports playground for children near Kyiv

Just a few months after visiting a family-type children’s home in the Brovary district near Kyiv, Liliya Podkopayeva, Olympic Champion and founder of Health of Generations, learned that the children dreamed of having a place to play, move, and stay active.

Understanding how important physical activity is for a child’s health — and as an athlete herself — Liliya decided to make this dream come true. Through the Health of Generations foundation, a new sports and play area was built for the children living in the home.

Today, this playground has become a space where children can run, play, and grow stronger — both physically and emotionally. It’s not just about swings and sports equipment, but about giving children the freedom to feel safe, confident, and happy again.
